These babies are amazing for their sale price point (I bought them when they were 600 USD). Rambo and I both sport these as our go-to for regular media consumption. They have a wide and spacious soundstage, are moderately balanced with a slightly veiled tremble. They will require some amping as they are 300 ohms.

For a cheap attachable mic.

Steelseries bro. Switched out my A40's for a set of arctics 15 series.

Affordable and in comparison to my A40's their heaps comfier and sound quality is pretty much the same to me, keeping in mind these 15 series are brand new headphones and my A40's are 4 years old.

I have last year's model of SteelSeries Siberia 800s. They are wireless but I would never go back to cabled headphones after this. You have two batteries so you can hotswap when its getting low, takes 10 seconds to switch out. 7.1 dolby surround sound, sound profiles too. The mic is okay, does the job well enough.

Audio-Technica ATH-AD900 or anything above them..

Fuck "Gaming Headphones" and their cheap drivers with large price tags.

AD900 are discontinued though. That said though, solid cans if you enjoy a more bassy punch & get your hands on some.

Gonna be that guy but: both Virtual 7.1 and actual 7.1 are a gimmick and have negative effects on audio quality in headphones/sets.

In the case of actual 7.1 surround sound cans, you have 7 tiny drivers (actual drivers - the bits that project the audio) that are typically of shoddy quality and upsaled because "gaming" audio is such a cash cow vs 2 much larger drivers of typically higher quality. Less is more in this case, having multiple drivers in a single ear actually adversely affects the audio resulting in unwanted distortion in the audio quality.

Where as in the case with virtual 7.1 like Dolby Surround Sound, the audio is filtered through an additional driver/program that simulates surround sound speakers that emulating binaural audio. This deliberately distorts the audio and if the software/game in speaking doesn't support or uses it's own internal binaural sound system they all you get is muddy noise.

I have a similar headphone (M40X, apparently more expensive than these) and the sound is nice but they can become a bit uncomfortable after a few hour's of usage. You can get replacement ear cups which are softer though. https://www.reddit.com/r/Zeos/ has some good advice I think
